The HAB's and the HAB Not's

Harmful Algal Blooms, otherwise known as HABs, are uncontrollable, large-scale growths of toxin-producing algae. They occur globally, but differ in species composition.

Changing climate patterns and long-term nutrient pollution have led to more frequent and intense HABs. While the picture seems dire, there is still hope for remediation efforts.

In this project, I paint with toxin-producing species such as Microcystis to illustrate connections between ourselves, our choices, and our ecological health.
